J.W. Marriott, Jr. Institute

Hospitality+ is a reimagined studio course sponsored by the J.W. Marriott, Jr. Institute organized in collaboration with the Multi-disciplinary Design Department in the College of Architecture and Planning. This course explores designing for the human experience by examining the physical and digital intersections of the way we comfort, connect, and care for guests in the world of hospitality.

Students examine and design touchpoints from booking platforms and user interfaces to arrival experiences and inclusive room design and architecture. Through this project-based course, students engage in field research, data collection and analysis, brainstorming and concept design, system and process strategizing and refinement, time-managed project deliverables, and a final pitch to a live industry audience. This course highlights a distinct, multi-disciplinary approach to hospitality and exposes students to the breadth of career opportunities available to students who embrace a hospitality mindset.
